Online race engineering at Prat Perch LTD

Tuesday, April 19th, 2011

This is a new venture of mine. We are going to develop some online tools for those who go motor racing for fun, yet who want to improve their performance and get better organised. The online race engineering software will include a number of live data analysis tools and campaign management features to improve peoples racing enjoyment and reduce many practical time wasting hassles.

The website and the race data analysis tools are in development for now, but in the mean time, I am offering to help teams with existing data analysis and set-up work. Contact me through the prat perch website if you’d like to know more – its all exciting stuff!

Locost is back out on track

Monday, April 18th, 2011

Samir Abid Locost at Brands Hatch 2011A great weekend for motorsports fans – especially British ones. Lewis Hamilton scores a great victory in an amazing GP, Mike Conway wins in Indycar and the 750 Locost championship got underway for the 2011 season at Brands Hatch.

Clearly the Locost meeting was on a slightly smaller scale. However it was no less competitive and proved to be some great racing.

For me this was my first time out in nearly 3 years. Lovely to be back in the paddock, catching up with old friends and rivals. It was also good to see so many new faces, many in familiar cars! A great day for me and respectable performance – only a couple of tenths off the pace.

It seems all the motorsports events are happening next week. I have now confirmed I will be at Motorsports Symposium, MIA Clean-tech and Autosport, including the various dinners during the week. I hope to be networked out come Friday night!

Get in touch if you are attending any of these events too.

Webber raced with broken shoulder – again!

Mark Webber had fractured shoulder in 2010

Mark Webber had fractured shoulder in 2010

Mark Webber just doesn’t have the luck.

At the start of 2009 he was knocked off his bike by car while on a downhill section of his own challenge endurance event.

This year it turns out that, unbeknown to his team, he had another mountain bike crash at Suzuka.

This time a friend dropped it in front of him and he had no where to go other than right over the top. He fractured his shoulder and had to have pain killing injections each time he got in the car – for the remaining four races of the season.

The timing does sound a little sour grapes but if its true, you can’t help feeling for the guy as the two years he’s had a competitive car he’s had broken bones.

RedBull F1 Simulator

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

It is the eagerly anticipated start to the F1 season and the first race is at Bahrain, somewhere I spent the very early years of my life. This video shows Mark Webber in the RedBull F1 simulator (something not often shown to the public …) driving the new for 2010 circuit layout.
